Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Recommendations for a family ski holiday in April 2019?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi All,

I'm looking for a recommendation for a resort for a family holiday at Easter next year. It will be 3-5 families, and we'd like to try to get sole use of a catered chalet. In the past we've been to Les Coches, Les Arcs and Tignes, but might try something in Austria, Switzerland or Italy next time. Kids will be 8-11, and we'll probably try to get a private instructor for all of them together, rather than chucking them into ski school.

Grown-ups are all intermediates, although we may have a family of complete beginners joining us. Kids have skied 3-5 times before. We like the idea of an alpine village atmosphere, rather than a hi-rise concrete resort.

Easter is quite late next year, so we'll probably have to go high to get decent snow. Ski in/out would be a bonus, but not a deal breaker.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

A real dilemma. You need to book well ahead to get a chalet for you all. But almost all catered chalets are in France and for a late Easter holiday you do need to go high or be prepared to drive/bus up to the snow each day. Need more thought about priorities, perhaps?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Not certain yet, at least 3 families, 11 people total, could go up to 5 families, 21 total. Most likely 4 families, 16 people.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Otherworld, project ski are excellent. They have a large chalet in Tignes https://projectski.co.uk/chalet/grand-tichot/

Thanks, that's just the sort of thing that we're looking for, but happy to see other recommendations, if anyone has them...

@Otherworld, you can also try Kim Rippen at Simply Val d'Isere if that interests you - she is an accommodation agent personally known to a number of us.
