Please help! Can anyone advise a good place to buy ski boots in London? Preferably in the city or south east. Many Thanks Linda

@compostcorner, what commission do you think I get? Who do you recommend in the area and why?

i only jest, it seems the only bootfitters that ever get recommended on here are profeet and solutions for feet, and ellis brigham and snow and rock get laughed at, its just a case of shop snobbery, you could be in outer mongolia and some bright spark on here will say, well can you get to profeet or bicester.

@compostcorner, not shop snobbery on my part. I recommend profeet when it is appropriate. When it isn't i dont recommend anyone as i have no other great experiences to base a recommendation on. When bootfitters are highly regarded then of course they are going to get recommended a lot. There are plenty of other regional recommendations including S&R

@compostcorner, nonsense. it's not shop snobbery at all. You can recommend a shop without it being 'snobbery'.
What's the point in asking for recommendations if people just indiscriminately recommend every shop in the world, out of some sense of ski shop equality?
People recommend S4F and Profeet (and also Rivington Alpine, Lockwoods and Sole Chamonix come up a lot) for the reason that they are good shops who give consistently good results. The general consensus of EB and S&R is that you throw a dice when you walk through the door and what number it lands on decides whether your boots fit or not, which is no good for anybody. Especially if they happen to live in the same city as a shop we know to be good!
I personally recommend Profeet, S4F, Sole and Zinnermans because I've been to them and had excellent service. I recommend against Coyoti in Wales because I went there and got sold something completely inappropriate and paid a lot of money for it. And I openly say I don't have any experience with anyone else.

I had boots fitted at EB at Castleford, replaced them recently after 4 full seasons of use without problems. If I remember rightly the guy who did the work was called Eddie. Previous boots were S&R in Gateshead, can't remember the guys name, these boots were what I wanted at the time but were not right for me when I started instructing 2 years later, no reflection on the original fitting work. Latest boots bought in local (Austrian) shop, 2 months in, no problems.
All of these more recent purchases have had heat moulded liners and shells, if the correct boots are selected initially and correctly moulded then there should be no problems. All boots also have custom footbeds.
