Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Narrowing boot liner at ankle

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Yeah, yeah... Another heel lift question.
Starting to get lift and blisters in my otherwise comfy ( and too warm on occasions) boots. Not old boots by any means, but already not that tight a fit - small and narrow paws - but I think that I'll be OK with some butterfly foam ankle wrap volume reducer things, like on ski boot liners. But I can't seem to find any for sale ( well, maybe 1 place has 'em but £40 for both boots).
Also, my liners are fabric ( not the shiny plastic like many modern ski boots) and with raised tape support ribs for the lace-up pull system - so I wonder how well they'll stick anyway.
Any ideas? Anywhere I could buy a suitable stick - on foam or other solution? ( Already got custom insoles.)
2 pairs of thick socks??? rolling eyes

Or try Ezeefit neoprene heel socks for reducing blisters. They do an ultra thin, 2mm and 3mm version.
I use the 2mm for ski touring, very impressed with them.

I’ve got a grey plastic thing which fits round the heel of the inner boot and fills extra space in the ankle pocket. A vertical stripe of the sticky padded stuff on each side of heel also helps - surely available from amazon or try spyderjon on here?

You could try J-Bars which stick on the outside of the liner around where your anklebone is to hold the inner tighter to your foot.

@Scarpa, interesting idea. But if you have a narrow heel and rear foot already, doesn't it just cause more blister rubbing spots? Looking at the picture there's a pocket where the skin of the heel shows through - pretty much where I get the problem...

@BobinCH, that's the jobbies I'm after ( or the Sidas butterflies, for ski boots maybe) - now, where do I get them? And your "grey thing" sounds good. I'll see if spyderjon can help, too.

@Richard_Sideways, again, yes, but where can I get them? None on EB as far as I can find, nor Google.

@HandyHand, bit small I think but, thanks, at least a possibility.

J Bars come with Burton boots IIRC so find a stockist and ask if they have any spares knocking about. Failing that give CEM a ring and I'm sure he can post you something.

Perhaps NOT for snowboard boots although you can decide, i use gaffer tape ( or similar) on the ski boot shell INTERNALLY to decrease slop / increase pressure around / over foot instep, ankle pocket. 2, 3 or 4 layers can make a real positive difference allowing fine customization to each foot with no additional packing down other than the original liner. Taking liners in/out can snag the tape . I don't and use a Thermic warm air dryer - very happy with this highly custom fix.

My guess is that these would probably do the job:

@rogg, Yes, that's what I originally started off wanting - but they say you need a pack of 2 per boots, hence the £40 (plus P&P?)

The helpful Mr CEM has pointed me to some adhesive neoprene on EB which is a mite cheaper, to say the least, so might have a play with scissors and paper patterns first.

 You know it makes sense.

what make are your boots? How much is your ankling lifting (could yet get away with some heal wedges in the base of your foot if its only a cm?)
Burton will send you Jbars if you have burton. These are rubber in a J/L shape that attach to the boot (not the liner) as there should be velcro for them.
Alterantively ThirtyTwo do 2 types of heel hold kits
One is circular & the other is a bit more complex

You can see on the 3rd pic that the kit has a few options. They are like rocking horse poo-poo. I used to have both (unopened), but no idea where they are atm Sad

Think I had my sets from ebay & absolut snow - but was a few years ago so not 100% sure.

@Mr.Egg, We use the ones shown in your third pic. Work very well. Probably bought from absolute some years ago though. Easy to make diy ones though.
