Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Advice required about (hopefully) minor damage to ski boot

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm due to go for my yearly ski trip next week and I've just noticed that one of my boots is slightly damaged. They are a few years old pair of Atomic Hawx and the plastic bit on the underneath between where the heel and sole screw into is broken. I don't think this is particularly fatal but if anyone who knows anything about these boots could reassure me (or otherwise) I'd be greatful Smile

Unfortunately I don't have any obvious way to post a photo of the damage which would make things a bit clearer!

Thanks in advance.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

BTW, it looks superficial as long as the purple shell under the wonky silver bit is sound......

@SAPhil, not fatal BUT that rib is part of the structural integrity of the boot it must have been some hit to bend, separate it form the shell and ultimately fracture that area, it is hawx gen 1 and based on the colour i am going to put a guess on 2010 ish

it will affect the way the boot skis in terms of rigidity, will you notice it? who knows as i have never skied in one which is broken so i can't comment, keep a close eye on it and make sure nothing else falls off, but it is most likely that you want to be replacing the boot fairly soon

@KenX: Thanks for your help with the picture.

@CEM: Pretty good guess! When I crash I crash big Smile . I'll certainly keep an eye on it, thanks.

Just a quick follow-up in case anyone else manages to do the same thing. I didn't notice any significant difference - although this may be due to my (poor) technique Very Happy . Arguably, I had to loosen the good boot a little bit more than I would have in the past to compensate, but I'm not even sure about that!
