Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi
Can anyone advise on ski hire in LES ARCS 1950.
Are all the shops run by the resort or are there any indipendent ones ?

Sorry, don't really know the answer to your question but at least you'll get a bump.

There are quite a few skiset shops around including one at 1950.
There is an independent one at the bottom of the funicular - Rosie's place which is called Polaire Star and is next to Charley's.

Do you have a reason for wanting an independent?
Hopefully, the bods who know more about skis and hire than I do will be along to give you more help.

Edit: on checking my post I see the skiset warning - sorry, didn't realise.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We stayed there in 2016, great resort. Think we used precision ski, there were quite a few ski shops there, but can't recall them all.

here is a 360 virtual tour of the village, you can have a look to see what shops are available

When idly browsing properties I once saw the fonds de commerce for one of the ski shops in 1950 for sale, so I don't think they're all owned by P&V or Radisson. Memory is they were mostly precision a couple of years ago.

Arc 2000 is no problem to get to/from on foot with a short lift, so if any of the shops there seem better then that's very little overhead.
