Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Norovirus in the Trois Vallées

A warning for anyone heading to the Trois Vallees. I was there last week staying in St Martin de Belleville and I caught a nasty bug. The hotel staff told me that they had contracted norovirus a week or two before, and that there is a lot going round.

This is hardly news, it seems to circulate round the Haut Savoie every winter, but please be extra careful. Using hand sanitiser before eating may help to protect you ( I didn’t ! ).

Hand sanitiser won’t protect against norovirus or other D&V viruses. You need soap and water.

I’m always a little sceptical about how bad things are in these reports. There are thousands in these reports. These viruses spread very easily so some D&V in any community of this size is inevitable. The difference these days is that we know all about it as everyone posts on forums or Facebook. No one posts that they went to Meribel and didn’t get D&V!
