Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Paradiski Lift Passes - from TO or direct DIFFERENCES

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just came back from La Plagne for the week and discovered a difference between the full area pass (La Plagne and Les Arcs) depending on whether or not you buy direct from the lift office or tour operator (or hotel).

The difference is in connection with half day free skiing which is included in the price (if you buy a 6 day pass).

Tour company or hotel
The free half day is at the end of your 6 days

Direct
The free half day is before your 6 day pass

Which method you purchase will depend on when you arrive/leave resort.

I've had this clarified and confirmed by the pass office in La Plagne (it changed this year).

Also, if you claim a refund for resort closure if you book direct you may place a claim direct, if via a TO this needs to be with them.

@e17phil, surely it is exactly the same lift pass whether bought by the TO or from the office. The TO gets a small discount which they may or may not transfer to the punter.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Also worth noting the daily ski pass price has been reduced several times this season, a friend got a reduced price pass four days out of five due to some of the lifts being closed the week before last. 36-42 per day instead of the 50+ usual price.

@johnE, You would have thought so wouldn't you!

We were caught out on Day 1 - only had 30 minutes so not really an issue (and we blagged ourselves on a couple of lifts).

I asked about it in the lift pass office and it changed for this season and those passes issues by hotels and TOs definitely have the free half day tagged onto the end of the 6 days.

No mention of this on my TO website BTW - a bit cheeky.

We have just come back from Les Arcs, we had TO passes, and we got the extra half day at the end, which suited us fine. The TO also got a deal where we got Paradiski passes for the price of Les Arcs ones, which i wasn't able to get direct from the website.

Ski Beat confirmed to me today that the extra half day on their passes is on the end not the beginning. It cost the 4 of our group who'd bought passes through them 39 eur each to ski on arrival afternoon, whereas it was included for those of us who bought the passes direct.
