Just wondering if there's any site or app out there that allows you to plan out the runs you'll do for each day and gives you a rough idea of the distance.
I'd like to get to see as of the slopes as I can but without a bit of thought i'd probably do doing it fairly inefficiently. I'm not going to go mad on the thing, if there's a run I enjoy i'll do it loads of times but just don't want to leave with whole sections of the mountain unseen

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Personally I used to only consult the piste maps when it was time for erring home or a lunch spot. Exploring randomly was part of the fun for me.
The Paradiski YUGE app can help you plan linked pistes, I imagine numerous other resorts’ apps probably have a similar feature.
Just use the piste map to get an idea of what will work and pick up the names of the pistes and also to denote where you don’t wanna be - eg taking a lift that only accesses black or natur runs if it’s not your thing.
FATMAP also useful for off piste, or side piste to piste. Obviously with the latter be prepared, have the gear and the knowledge.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I rarely plan too much more than "we'll head in that direction". When I actually make an effort to plan then something usually happens to stop it. Also I like to just see where the mood takes me.

If you can follow a piste map without getting lost, you're a better person than me.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I tend to follow the Mrs - she's always set on 'windey' mode

SKADI has been recommended to me and would do that job. (Not tried it myself yet though)

Always makes me laugh when someone sets a plan, cos we're lucky if we haven't changed it before the top of the chairlift! Or someone wasn't paying attention to the plan and just heads off in a different direction.

Thanks, ye’s are probably right.
There are a few pistes i’ve seen recommended that I definitely want to get in, I’ll just make sure I get them done when i’m nearby and run whatever’s in front of me after that

@colly10, ...over on off-piste, people know the importance of planning a route and lodging it - i.e. leaving it with someone, either officially or a knowledgeable contact. And randomly varying the plan will mean that if something adverse happens, any searchers will be heading to the wrong places. But on piste, yep, we plan in a way - over a coffee in the morning, depending where we are, we decide whether it's a hacking distance day or technique improvement day. Staying in La Tania, we once had a plan to ski the entire length of the Trois Vallee and back. And planned in lunch at Val Thorens. Silly plan. We watched the clock, and were an hour over by the time that we got to the farthest point - and grief it was a mad panic to get back. Very much got the last lift back to La Tania sector - angry pisteur trying to throw us off as we dodged the chain on the gate, but we explained and he was OK about it. Phew, just back. But where's Rob? with six of us we had managed to leave the only snowboarder in the group behind somewhere on the mad approach to the chair to La Tania - and we'd all been fixed on getting the chair - mad hustle, and everyone had thought that everyone was there. Poor Rob had to get a taxi, which we all chipped in for, and late for supper - we all felt very bad.
Weather has a big impact. Even when lodging a route, it's not right to stick to the plan when the weather says 'bail' or 'stop' - but when bailing, vital to talk to those who hold the plan, so they know where you are. Fruitless searching is ... fruitless.

Definitely consider the weather and the abilities of your group first. Target certain runs/sectors for the morning and start to head back, wind down as the day goes on. Lap your home runs to finish the day if you've still got energy and/or the weather is good.
Don't be to hard set on stuff and be prepared to modify your plans. Sometimes conditions on a run/sector mean it's better to seek alternative. Sometimes there are lift problems, someone is having a bad day, etc.
