Hope he's prepared for a long walk home in his socks on the day the soles detach.

@Dave of the Marmottes, interestingly I have a friend who had both soles detach at the same time! Not Salomons mind. Turned out he had been living in Singapore for a few years and was using the boots for the first time since returning. Assumption being that the hot humid weather in Singapore had caused the plastic to deteriorate to the point where both boots failed simultaneously. Had a long walk down in his socks!

Don't have to have been in Singapore - common problem with the plastics of boots of that generation particularly after so long. Always makes me laugh that rear entry afficianados/ retrogrouches will still seek out and pay good money for sn accident waiting to happen. Personally if I was an insurer I wouldn't way out either.

@Dave of the Marmottes, these were not rear entry, and they were not that old.
@queen bodecia, I had a pair SX92s. Was totally happy with them for many years!

I have buddy from Hastings who had a break from skiing for some time. Brought his fairly old boots along, probably from the early nineties. First time he pushed off on his skis on the first day they both shattered into fairly small pieces. Luckily he was a few yards from the hotel. I guess he'd kept them in his loft for all that time. If I can find the pics I'll post them...

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I like the fact those Salomons are “genuine” rather than the cheap Chinese fakes you inevitably come across these days.

Funnily enough that did happen to his golf shoes....!

You know it makes sense.

OMG I had a pair of them circa 1987. Most unpleasant pieces of footwear I have every worn. My feet would go dead in them (for weeks) and nails fell off. I had countless adjustment and added/removed bits. Clips came off on every lift.
I can understand someone wearing boots as they are comfy (my current pair are comparatively like slippers and several years old) but these are shocking.....
Imagine the cheek of trying to sell such plastic tat on ebay. Maybe okay for a role play game as a Stars wars Star Trooper but for skiiing...

I had SX90’s. Worst boots I ever had - unbelievably I sold them. My wife had SX60’s - they went in the skip.
