Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sportsdirect Nevica socks

Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

So I am a bit confused about socks. I think there are some people here who would say that Nevica socks you can buy at Sports direct are poor quality - but the materials are 51% Merino Wool, 46% Nylon and 3% Lycra Elastane. That's decent, right? What am I missing?

You're probably missing nothing. Some socks will have extra cushioning on the shin etc. and will charge 3x the price but will they be 3x as good? I doubt it. Expensive socks may be marginally better but not worth the money in comparison to the specification of the Nevicas. Just check if the seams might give you grief and don't get thin socks if you suffer in the cold.

Brand snobbery, that's what you're missing.

how do they wash?
ive bought socks that have gone in the bin after one wash.
TKMaxx had some Salomon a few years £15 for 2 pairs. They have lasted me 3 years & still hold their shape & elastic compression

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Yeah good point, I don't know how they wash. They are quite thin and I do feel the cold (although when buying boots recently, the guy fitting them said to go for thin, smartwool socks and these are basically the same composition).

Oh well, i'll keep a look out for discounted brand names and see how i go.

I saw them at them at the weekend, looked OK, just a bit thick.

Previous years' Aldi ones have been good, although these look slightly different in the pics. To avoid the scrum on Thursday you can order online with free delivery.
