Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi, does anyone know of the are any slalom or GS courses open to the public in the three Valleys? I'm heading there in a couple of weeks and quite fancy a shot.

Cheers,

Ask the local ESF. They often organise a slalom and GS course for their Chamois and Fleche weekly races, and will I think (sometimes?) allow others to book a slot to take part.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

There is a small dual GS course on the right side of the Blanchot Piste in Meribel. Between the bottom of the Dent du Bergin and Loze chairs. Only 8 - 10 gates but free to use.

Great! Thanks for the hints everyone.

What is the Fleche? and how good are the folk who enter it? And how much? I'm just really wanting a try in a course, not really a proper race!

Cheers,

Denry

I think anyone can enter fleche or chamois. Just pay your money and rock up. Likely to get a very late (ie rutted) start though.

They're just timed gs and slalom races and you get an award based on your percentage of the starters (typically an instructor or local racer) time. All standards.

@Duplo, Worth a quick check on your insurance as many policies exclude such activity...

The courses can get very rutted and icy (although perhaps not so much in the current conditions) so think about DIN settings too as the skis can bang about in the ruts and might pop out on too low a setting.

BMW X Drive Cup in Courchevel 1850. Off the top of Plantrey lift. Can't find a link for it but it's a public slalom with timed video of your run available to download from the cloud. Think it's free with the lift pass but don't quote me!
