Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi,
My girlfriend has the Burton Deja Vu 2015/16 146cm womens board and I was going to wax it when I noticed the bottom of board isnt flat, is this correct? I mean widthwise it is not flat, the centre of the board is raised compared to the edges, is this correct?
I know lengthwise it has the rocker / camber hybrid shape so its not meant to be flat lengthway
Looks like it is a design feature - "Burtons Scoop Tech. By making the tip and tail base bowl up (like a spoon) so the edges at the contact points are elevated it allows for you to roll in and out of turns easier without the edge bite."
So are there any tips or techniques for effectively scraping non flat boards?
Thanks

@fredbob, We have Bataleon tbt boards which are not flat across the board. Just follow the contour when scraping. I often use the scraper on a diagonal to the line of travel. Maybe use the smaller width of the scraper if you need to.
Otherwise no special technique.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The board was waxed in a shop on our last trip but to me there seemed to be loads of leftover wax on it. I've started scraping the board and write a bit of wax has come off particularly around the top and tail. Have i scraped the edges too much, it looks quite scratched now, do I need to re wax it?
Thanks

@fredbob, Yes, looks like it would benefit from another wax to me. I would not expect to see the white down the edges after a wax and scrape. Our boards look like that after a week on tbe slopes.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I can't tell from that, but if you're just using a plastic wax scraper then you can't "over scrape" it. I would not worry too much - if you have excess wax there then it'll soon go away as you ride the board.

You'll need to Register first of course.

if the board is a directional twin, then isnt that right? It should help with carving.
When you run the scraper, just go with where it wants to go.

Thanks for that, I've given it another wax so will start with the scraping again today......
The board was waxed by a shop and then ridden on for 6 days and I still managed to scrape off lots of extra wax, I'm guessing it's something to do with the shape of the board
