My considered opinion to all that is "so what?" Is the concept of inflation and fluctuating exchange rates new to some people?

Austria always seems cheap to me compared to London & SE prices. Even if the pound hit parity, a large bier is still 4 Euros or less and it's still a rip off £5.20 (Peroni, nice glass tho') in my local.

Looking in Flachau, half a litre of beer is looking to be around €6

@Frosty the Snowman, yes, I don't know where people find a large beer for €4. We pay €3,50 for a small beer in most places

€3.80 for a large beer in Pettneu last week (granted it is a few villages down the valley from St Anton). Otherwise 6.5ish in Mooser Bar...ouch

I've been paying about €4-5 pretty consistently wherever I've been in Austria recently. I think some places in Ellmau are still under €4, will confirm on Friday

Always thought Austria was reasonable for beer prices especially on the hill, typically 4 - 5 euro.
The Doric Arch at Euston station charges £4.50 for a pint of bitter but I typically pay around £3.50 in my local boozer at home.

Well as the inflation rate for Austria is marginally over 2% someone is talking b0ll0cks again

Not unusual in Australia, so no sticker shock in St Anton.

Obviously the people who buy those will all wear helmets, so it's completely safe for them to be ratted on the hill. No wait, don't tell me: it's also legal for them to smoke tobacco in public places.
