Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Planning a sidetrip here from the Maurienne in January, so any advice or tips appreciated. We are staying in Melezet, and enjoy a mix of on and off piste. Thanks

Melezet is the quietest and, in my opinion, the best end of Bardonnechia. The Bosco drag, and also the Seba drag, won't always be open right after snowfall but keep checking because in january you will have the pistes almost to yourself.

Thank you. The quest is for empty slopes as we have found even the smaller French resorts getting crowded in January.

Just spent 2 days over there. Lot of snow!!! All the slopes open even under snowfall
There are 3 different areas Colomion, Melezet and Jafferau
Melezet and Colomion are very well connected.
In Melezet there is the Olympic Run which is quite challenging
the other area is called Jafferau which you have to use a shuttle to get there
for Apre Ski: Harald's at Campo Smith\

Have Fun

Oh I think get a bus to the other end skiing in Jaffrau. Nice angles, less people and better snow IMHO. Also try the train station cafe for a 3 course bargain lunch and best quality in the village. Had a great time there.

Coldest I have ever been whilst skiing was up on Jafferau. Felt like I had an ice cold knife piercing my forehead; sooo painful. Hardly anyone up there as @kezzy19661 says.
I enjoyed Bardonecchia though the lessons I took were not the best.

Thanks for replies; we are staying at the Pigna, 10m from the Melezet lift, b and b, very good value, with a day in Montgenevre. True ski in/out!
