It looks as though the season is going to start with good conditions pretty much across the alps. It should mean a resilient base is being established.
I wonder if that means the lower, cheaper more accessible ski areas will attract the early customers, who before Christmas are presumably more likely to be day skiers?
Perhaps not so good news for the higher, more expensive or less accessible areas..?....., but then we don't know what the weather holds beyond about seven days.

@Peter S, why? Low snow not that great in Haute Savoie, you really want to be above 1,500m
So I can’t anyway see lower resorts benefitting at the expense of higher ones. Can’t really see that happening anyway.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

With good conditions throughout the alps and most areas able to open up most of their slopes it will be interesting to see what affect that has in the traditionally busier resorts.
January could be quiet. No queues and lots of empty runs.

So your theory is that good conditions will result in emptier pistes. Has this ever been known to happen?

I think the point is that rather than everyone cramming in EK, PdS, and the other big names skiers will be more likely to opt for a smaller resort. Fingers crossed!

Dunno, we are at Valloire and it was practically empty today. Snow is great. However lots of bouchons on the way down until Beaune, no traffic in Chambéry etc. So maybe everyone was going to PdS?

Not in the PDS - no queues at all in Chatel/Torgon/La Chapelle. Haven't been to Avoriaz, Swiss side or Morzine /Les Gets yet but after 3 days no waiting at all.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Quite a few reports coming in from the big interconnects noting how quiet it is. The good conditions low down must mean that there is plenty of supply chasing a fixed demand.
January could be particularly tranquil?
