Hi fellow SH's,
My wife and I are looking to buy ski boots this season for the first time.
We are going to be in Munich for 2 nights (11/12 Jan) and wanted to buy boots there. Does anyone have any store recommendations that does fitting and has an excellent selection?
We are staying at Sendlinger Tor so Marienplatz is very close to us. Does anyone have a preference of Sportscheck vs Haus Schuster?

@rrd3718, I have no idea so ignore the rest if you like, but what if you need them tweaking? Buy in resort you can get them tweaked, buy at home you can at least still go back if any adjustments are needed when you get back from skiing. Do you really want to spend 2-3 hours out of 2 days away getting ski boots fitted then having to cart them home (assume you have enough luggage space/weight)

@holidayloverxx you raise a fair point. I assumed Munich would be cheaper than in resort (Saalbach)? I live in London and the selection here isn't nearly as good unfortunately. We have time in Munich for the ski boot buying as I also need to buy a new suit.

@rrd3718, have you tried Profeet in Fulham? if they can't find a boot to fit, perhaps with adjustments, then I would say no-one can unless you have seriously odd feet. My take on the price (as a former retailer) - in a ski resort there is competition and they sell hundreds of pairs of boots in a season = more buying power and perhaps keen pricing. In Munich they might sell a few pair a week if they are not specialist bootsellers/fitters

Sport Schuster is right beside Marienplatz

but I don't think that they are bargain price oriented
Another option with better prices might be Sport Bittl

farther away from the center
However, I would buy from a specialist shop in the resort (or a specialist place like profeet) and not from a large city shop. Fit is everything in ski boots and most of the time bargain priced boots bought without proper fitting turn into expensive mistakes

thanks for all the responses, I have been convinced. I'm not really phased about cost, I am more interested in fit, comfort, and quality.
So do you think a Sport Schuster wouldn't be as good as a store in Hinterglemm?
We are staying at Unterschwarzacherhof - which ski shop would you recommend in the area?

Munich is €€€. If there's a price difference (probably not as RRP is RRP) I imagine Saalbach would be cheaper.
Black Sheep Sports in Munich comes recommended though.

If you want to buy s ski suit in Munich then go to Karstadt Sports just near Karlsplatz S-Bahn station. Fantastic range to choose from. Probably no cheaper than in resort but you are likely to find a resorts worth of options in the one store.
I agree with buying boots in resort. If you do change your mind then Sport Bittl would be your best option followed by SportScheck.

Sport Schuster in Munich is a fantastic shop - worth visiting even if you're going to buy in resort. They have a 3D Scanning system for measuring your feet/lower legs for boot fitting which looks impressive but I've no idea if it's really any use or not.

Did someone call my name? I may be able to get you a discount at Ski Pro in Saalbach, and Hagleitners are highly recommended for fitting. However, by far the cheapest place in the Saalbach area for a pair of excellent new boots is chez moi  . A couple of years ago Mrs TT bought me a pair of new Salomon Falcon CS Custom Shell boots, size 26 (= UK 7). They are surplus to requirements, and, although I did try them out for an hour or two one morning, they are essentially in new condition, and of course they haven't yet been customised. So, if you happen to be looking for that size......(I only want £99 - original price over £300). As they felt a tad small for me (I have wide feet), they may be best suited to a woman or at least someone who has narrow feet or is more a normal shoe size 6.
If you google images of "Salomon Falcon CS", they are the grey ones with red buckles.

I used Hagleitners some years ago - really good. I have quite awkward shaped feet - they sorted me out. Go on your first day and keep going back if they need tweaking.
