Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Setting Bindings

Feel a bit daft asking this, having skied for so many years!!

I bought my first ever set of ski's during the summer and i've now got to get the bindings set up.

I've not really taken much notice when hiring skis of what the technicians do, other than set the release level and length to fit the boot.

Is there anything else I should be doing or would I be better off taking them to a ski shop to set up for me.?

errrr. google the manufacturer and find their tech manual for the binding model. Follow the instructions? It's as simple s that but there are certain things that you have to get spot on, eg forward pressure and the indicators won't probably be obvious from observation.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thank you, I have sorted it. Pretty straightforward. Always good to know how they work and how to adjust them.

Make sure you have your forward pressure set correctly, just look at how flush the screw is when the boot is in situ, remove the boot before making adjustments (if I recall correctly). I have a dual use binding and when I adjusted it between touring and alpine boots I was only 3 clicks off, had 3 pre releases until I could adjust it correctly.
