The Monterosa web site news section, says that this year they will offer reduced price ski pass for week days. Can't see any details of this on ski pass pages. Anyone out there able to help on this?

So, looking all much better than at this weekend last year and possibly some years previously.
Much open, although lower runs all man made, but well done the snow construction teams.
Higher up really rather good, even got in a few powder turns in real, if a little wind-compacted, powder.
Empty pistes, mostly
Stil some untracked (although probably a little crunchy at this aspect)
All good really, for the time of year
In other news, the redoubtable Eric, of many years fame as bar man and owner of a variety of local hostelries has bought the Rifugio Belvedere and is slowly outfitting it as a boutique spa hotel. This year's development being taking the snack bar, binning the snack menu and becoming a restaurant. The food was excellent and portions not too enormous. I had scallopine of veal in paprika and honey, Mme. a fine t-bone tagliatta, a bottle of wine and some lovely dark beer plus coffee and grappa...€50. Which is, emminently reasonable, I would submit.

Question is where to stay? Does anyone know a bunk house / hostel in the area? I'm thinking of going on Monday. Taking touring setup.

A very fine on piste weekend with Mr & Mrs zzz. Tip top food and wine.
Rifugio Belvedere definitely the best late lunch stop in the Alps.
Almost all pistes open, exceptional snow making and grooming going on. Pistes in great shape, off piste not so much, but, you know, December.
Anyone who arrived Saturday should be well pleased.
And it was sunny...and beautiful.

@Idcxty, Champoluc or Campoluc.
As before, Champoluc, yes, more than before (if you mean on piste), Campoluc I still don't know where that is.
Almost no snow below ~1,900m that isn't on piste and man made.

@yorkshirelad, very variable forecast = we will see in the morning. But an excellent base pretty much everywhere so even a little snow will just make all nice.

@JohnMo, it does seem like progress is being made. Even more encouragingly, if you know what I mean, is the forming of a protest group against running the liftline up the Cime Bianca. (still ski down it which would be an attraction in itself.
One proposed alternate makes good logistic sense linking straight onto the glacier, opening up summer skiing from Monterosa and making the Swiss link easier.

Anyone out there to update on how the snowfall turns out and conditions? Looks very cloudy on webcam currently and can see some flocons. Coming out on 23rd and happy to have booked one of the few places in the Alps that has done OK with snow!

Gently snowing all morning! Pistes are in really good nick.

@belette, technically, it's not that it's done OK with snow but that they've been lucky with the cold and been able to make a lot of snowand done avery good job managing it.
Anyone arriving this week will be very happy and if a decent quantity arrives tonight and tomorrow, that'll keep everything good for the week after this as well.

it is cloudy and dark on webcams so difficult to even guess of what has fallen on the mountain since even Hotel Bellevue webcam shows max 10 cm of the white stuff at resort level. Looking at forecasts I was hoping to see much more than that ... 2.5 weeks and counting
|
|
|
|
|
|
I am guessing 10cms in Brusson, which is a little it lower. Maybe not much additional higher up but unless you were optimistically expecting early season off piste, the pistes are really in very, very good condition.
