Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Organising a trip in Jan for 7-10 people

I am trying to organise a trip for 7-10 people in Jan 21st with most people being never have skied before. When I've done trip in the past I've done a DIY and Travel Agent trips but I've never tried to organise a trip with this many people before.

When it's many people is it best just to organise via a Travel Agent or to try and do a DIY tirp (only problem with this will be the flight price)?

Do travel agents still exist? Would have thought the internet has made them redundant. Seriously, all the information you want is at your fingertips.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

1. Are you booking flights for people?
2. accommodation - myriad of different sites so that should be easy;
3. Transfers - www.findtransfers.com
4. Ski Hire - find the closest shop to the lift - may be a little more expensive but you beginners will thank you
5. Lessons - again internet search should give you who is doing lessons and where they meet.

I organised a weekend for 7 guys last year and it was fine - main thing is agreeing the flights. You don't want 3 getting in at 11am and 4 at 5pm and everyone having to wait.

Even using a travel agent will still take organising!
If you DIY it
1) choose resort
2) find suitable accomodation
3) check flight prices
If in budget, then book! - dont forget to collect monies!
4) Have a drink, youve earned it.

5) Arrange Lift passes, Ski Hire & Lessons - dont forget to collect monies
6) Sort out transfers to Airport - is an overnight stay required, etc. - dont forget to collect monies
7) Sort out transfers to Resort.
Cool Have a drink, youve earned it.
9) Get to airport, take flight, get trasnfer to resort (& Drink several well earned drinks bought for you!)
10) Check in (& as organiser, check in last) & deal with any immediate room issues.
11) Have a drink, youve earned it.
12) Go to rental shop for boot fitting, etc. The day before hire starts if possible as this saves a lot of time.
13) Everyone should know where/when to meet for lessons, etc.
14) Get up extra early & collect lift passes, etc. - distribute during breakfast.
15) get everyone back home!

We orgnaise our own trip. Largest I have had to organise for is 20 people.
Its a good idea to use a reward credit card. I booked everything on a credit card & it gave me enough airmiles for a trip to the states Laughing

To be honest, with most of your group not having skied before, you may find much of the onus falls on you to organise and deal with everything....may not make for the most relaxing time for you, as the experienced skier.

At least a TO holiday could take up some of that strain.

Alternatively, look for some specialist accommodation operators who may well be prepared to assist with sorting equipment hire, passes, local info, organising lessons and who can share their knowledge of the skiing area. Some may well also organise/offer transport to the slopes if ski in/out isn’t an option.

Lastly, if some of the new skiers might prefer non-skiing activities for part of the week, factor in somewhere that has other attractions and things of interest.

Good luck Smile

The most important thing is get the money in your hand before you do anything, even really close friends will change their mind, and you do not want to be footing the bill.
