Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Off-piste trips in Zermatt?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm in Zermatt with wife and kids for first week of April, and want to do some off-piste while they're in ski school.

Are there daily guided groups like other resorts? If not, how much does a guide cost for a day?

Thanks
Mark

markymark,

To join an off-piste group organised by the ski school is one option and I can't remember if it was £25 or £45 pp per day. But he will take you off little drops and over to Cervinia. I did this is perfect conditions and it was a great day. I just walked down the tourist office after skiing as it looked like it would snow overnight.

Other trips include the Monterosa which are heli trips. These would cost about 240eu and take about 5 hrs.

Maybe Kramer will update you as he has just come back from there, I believe

markymark, I have recently returned from Zermatt, and it is really suffering from lack of new snow at the moment, especially off-piste. As I don't ski off-piste, I can't really comment on this further, but our Instructor informed us that there wasn't really any to be had. Bare patches are now showing across the mountains, and it looks very springlike already Sad The pistes are fine though and we had an excellent weeks skiing. snowHead

markymark, I will second IncogSkiSno's statement. AFAIK it hasn't snowed there since before Christmas, and certainly it was looking a bit bare in January, so we didn't do any off-piste.
