Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Chamonix Ski Pass

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello,
Does anybody know the pro's and cons of the two ski passes available in Chamonix, i have noticed on the main chamonix site there are two passes the Chamski and the mont blanc Ski pass. I am really looking for a no limitation pass which the Mont Blanc pass seems to cover but i can not find much info about it on the web.

Cheers
Russ

rburch, It's been a while since I sied Chamonix but the Mont Blanc pass used to cover all the resorts in the valley including Les Houches, which it doesn't now. Les Houches went it's own way a few seasons ago. So here was, Le Tour, Argentiere, Flegere, Brevents and you got a free day in St Gevais/Megeve or Courmayer all included on the pass.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Les houches has thrown its lot in with megeve, st gervais. etc. Mont blanc covers the whole area inc megeve. I don't know the limitations in terms of how many days in each resort on either pass.

Last time I was in Chamonix (five or six years ago) we decided that it was cheaper to buy day passes at the various places and that the Chamonix pass was only worthwhile if you wanted to ski Grands Montets at Argentiere every day.

One of the great things about Chamonix is that if you have a car you can ski Argentiere, Le Tour, Brevent / Flegere, Les Houches in the valley and also pop down to St Gervais / Megeve or Les Contamines for a change of scene. Buying day passes (which is no great hassle) allows great flexibility to do this.
