Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can one of our French residents explain how things are changing? Does Paris really have holidays from 4 February till 19 March? Would spread them out a bit, I suppose.

@pam w,
The holiday system is exactly the same as beforehand with 3 zones spread over 4 weeks, but some of the regions have been shuffled around. The biggest change is (for me at least, because it stuffs our family arrangement royally) Paris zone now including the Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées instead of Bordeaux.

I can't link the table that puzzled me so, but it was in about-france.com and looks very different.

@pam w, could it have been a misprint, i.e. was meant to say 4th Feb to 19th Feb?

Ah, right, the table I used was just wrong.... Because I'm on an incredibly slow internet connection I didn't check others. Snowheads is one of the fee sites which works OK. Some just don't seem to load at all, including some of the other holiday links.

Just looking at that link for the winter holidays too and the implication for Christmas and New Year weeks. As Christmas Day and New Years Day fall on a Sunday and school term starts on Tuesday 3rd do you think the usual Saturday - Saturday or Sunday - Sunday will still stand or will there be some tweaking? If I recall from the past hasn't there been an '8 day week' followed by a '6 day week' to get round this for the New Year holiday makers - or have I dreamed that up?!
