Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can you come back down from the summit of the grand motte in tignes on the gondola and then the funicular?

Or do you have to ski down?

@Skilock317, I assume the mean the cable car. I’ve never done that but I’d be surprised if you can’t.

When I was there at New Year two years ago I only took the funicular and the cable car up the way, but the funicular is certainly two way, and I'm pretty sure the cable car is too - I think I remember some folk going down on it, and I don't think I would have gone up without an escape - as it was, I was the shakiest pair of skis on the red run...

Why would you get the cable car down? The upper slope is hardly steep and no steeper than parts on any Blue piste in the EK.

@bar shaker, Not something I can imagine doing myself but I could imagine a relative beginner getting quite nervous up there if the conditions were closing in.

Also the snow can be very hard packed sometimes and the fact that it is quite a long run could make it appear quite daunting to a beginner.

I was leading a small group up there some years ago and we became split up and could not get on the same cable car. I was one of the first group and as we were waiting for the rest, one person asked me if we could start going down as he suffered from agoraphobia. I thought that was a fine time to tell me.

@Skilock317, yes, you can definitely come down both the cable car and funicular. Queues much shorter than on way up snowHead
Views from top of Grande Motte spectacular.
