Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Salzburg to Saalbach driving black spots?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Will be driving from Salzburg airport to Saalbach on 6th of Jan (a Saturday). Flight gets in at 2.30 pm and I'm wondering if I'll have missed jams or whether things will still be rammed. Seem to be 2 possible routes, via Saalfelden or slightly longer via Zell. Any insider info. would be much appreciated.

If any other Snowheads will be there for 6-13 Jan could meet up?

Have been a few times and via Saalfelden is the chosen route by the taxi drivers. Guessing they know the quickest ways. Only about an hour 😀

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Mid to late afternoon will be fairly clear all the way, and via Lofer and Saalfelden is definitely the best route. 6th Jan is not exactly high season either for inbound traffic, though the other direction may still be busy at that time with New Year departures

Loads of speed cameras between Lofer and Saalfelden.

I did this trip on a Saturday in early March last year (in a TO bus) and there was zero traffic delay. In fact not even much traffic full stop

@ratherbewindsurfing, also known as the Dutch Toll Collection device wink, sort of an automatic fine machine for them probably having no winter tyres as well as driving too fast...

As others have said, the route via Lofer and Saalfelden is the way to go, provided that snow doesn't close the road (seldom happens) and force you to take the other route. We usually assume a journey time of 1 hour 15 mins, but it can be done in 55 mins (hopefully won't be getting that taxi driver again! Shocked )
