Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi, for those that have been to Courchevel, what are your thoughts on the specific resort to base lessons from? We are staying down at Le Praz so can select lessons from either 1650 or 1850 (or 1550 although that seems a bit out of the way). Any thoughts on which has the better ski area for older children who are at the beginner end of experience?

Either Le Praz itself (if you choose one of the schools there) or 1850. The meeting point at 1850 is an easy Gondola ride from Le Praz and there is plent of easy stuff for kids in 1850 (Verdons, fun-park, Pralong etc).
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I’d definitely go 1850. Easier to get to than 1650 and world class beginner runs. Only one lift away. Snow will probably be better than le praz being higher up.

If you are looking for lessons for people with say 0-2 years experience, then 1850 is definitely the better choice. Wider range of Green pistes, probably more schools, and in some cases more classes so more chance of a similar ability level within the class. Note that if you go up by the Praz gondola it is either a short walk or a ski via the Epicea drag to get to the meeting place at the Croisettte.
For more experience 1650 (via ski-bus) is probably good as well.
Don't bother with 1550, as their schools tend to meet in 1850 anyway!
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
