Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

will be there in a few weeks, for only a few days. Any snow/ski reports from Valle Nevado or Portillo?

Also, anyone know of a ski rental place in santiago?, we are just bringing our boots and need a rental. Going to a cat ski place for a day, and they do not have rentals there.

Thanks intrepid skieers.

OMG, tremendous!!!. so I have only 2 days to ski (its a family vaca and I managed to get some summer ski on the agenda). One day is a cat operation that I found. We are going to self drive from Santiago, I have a 4x4 rented. Where would you go the other day? valle nevado, portillo? latter is appealing, but maybe hard to reach by car for a day?

Ski Arpa for cat?

If so,

Portillo is 89km / 2 hr drive
Valle Nevado is 157km / 3 hr drive back via Santiago

Depends on where you're staying after the cat day. If back to Santiago, then Valle Nevado for the next day.

santiago is base. santiago to ski resort. then back to santiago. Then santiago to ski arpa and back to santiago.

sounds like valle nevado then? Portillo is just one of those magical sounding places (never skiied in s america)..

Gawd I cant wait. I love cycling, but its a poor substitute for skiing.

Yep, Valle Nevado it is. Or one of the other three valley resorts. La Parva, Farrellones the other two. Lots of people like La Parva.
