Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New lift from Madonna di Campiglio to Folgarida/Marilleva

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
As anyone who has skied on the Dolomiti Ski Area will know the link from Madonna back to Folgarida was almost empty for most of the day and then a bit of a bottle-neck during the late afternoon. This was caused by it being just rickety old slow 2 chair.

The construction of the new 4 chair high speed lift "Malghette" is now well under way with all the concrete bases for the pylons in place. The pylons are all there, but still laying on the floor although they should be up and fitted in the next few weeks.

The lift is number 6 on the piste map

The base and top station machinery has now arrived on trucks and should be transported up into the hills soon.

The new lift will be running by the end of the summer. But of course then it will all need testing and will need to be passed before the safety certificates can be awarded.

The Malghette piste (number 10 on the piste map, link above) down from THE Orso Bruno Café / Folgarida to Madonna was widened last year and was fully open for the whole of last season. They also got rid of the horrid “dog-leg” turn halfway down.

The weather in the Dolomites has been really good over the last few weeks so it’s all looking good and the lift guys say they can’t see any problems with the construction and it should all be finished early.

@Lisa_BrentaSki, don't know why but thought this had opened last season, hadn't they already done some work on the piste for the previous season along with the new restaurant?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yes you’re right. They bulldozed the piste last summer, so the new layout, which is MUCH better, was there all last season.

The new lift should make it much faster to get back over from Madonna. It is possible to ski all the way from the top of the lift back to Folgarida without taking a lift but, at 9km, it’s a long way.

The new café was opened two seasons ago by an ex-director of the Ski Azzurra ski school.

Millions of Euros later and the new lift is now in Very Happy

and the chairs should be in place next week.

It's looking as if they will have completed the work in advance of the opening on Dec. 1st[/img]

Well played to the area for that, the lift it replaced was a nightmare from 3.30 onwards.
