@Langerzug, i think the summers of 2018 & 2019 will be big for lift renewal construction not just in Lech but all over the Arlberg.

Looking at this .PDF in the link above it appears to me:
Replacing the Oberlech surface lift with 6-er chair that goes higher and seems to allow access the Weibermahd lift slope area along with a new Rotschrofenbahn starting at the bottom of Weibermahd lift instead at the top next to Hasensprung loading area (where it loads now) seems indicate a very congested area with the Warth/Schrocken connector loading also at the bottom of the Weibermahd lift.

There is not much to report this summer. A few houses being rebuilt modernised etc.
Other than that there is a Heatwave in Austria. Approxinately 5 degees above normal & last month 90% down on rainfall.

The dorfbahn in Warth is being built tho. Furthermore, they are still working on the lake near the Hochalpchair. From this year they should be able to provide the warth side with artificial snow completely and on the Schröcken site the red run down in the Auenfeld. The restaurant in the top station of the Trittkopfbahn will be finished this year as well. On the webcams you could also see (the cams have been down since yesterday) some other construction sites.

The Heatwave continues in Austria with temperatures up to 37C this week . Very little rain about 95% down in June & July.

@stanton, both June and July were wetter than average in Tirol. June by only about 1% and July 24% according to ZAMG. It's been pretty stormy at times out here. Where do you get the 95% figure from?

The report is clearly stating that from Arlberg to Wechsel there was 25 to 75% more rain than normal.
From Arlberg to Wechsel can be considered as the complete Austrian Northern Alps.
July was warm ànd extremely wet.

Hi I was hoping the experts here could help me out. My wife and I are looking to potentially stay in Warth in middle of January for a week's skiing. How long does it take to get over to Lech. Would you recommend it? We are not looking for crazy Apres on this trip but more great hotels to unwind in and of course great skiing.

@rrd3718, Not long its is basically two lifts (one uplift from Warth then the Aujenfeldje transit Gondola) You can spend all day comfortably in Lech just be careful if there is strong wind as the Auenfeldjet can close ...

thanks stanton ! if the lifts do close what would the alternative access route to Warth be?
|
|
|
|
|
|
It's more than one lift from Warth to access the Auenfeldjet over to Lech, requires 3 to get to the runs down to the link. Still easy enough to get over to. If the connecting lift shuts then it is a long road trip round as the road link between Lech and Warth is shut during the winter.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Indeed, from Warth it takes 4 lifts to get in Lech. 5 (the new Dorfbahn) from Warth-centre
Warth does not have many hotels, and the more luxurious ones are not exactly cheap either. You should not expect a really cheap alternative to Lech in this category. A well appointed hotel-garni in Lech might offer more at better -overall- prices

thanks for the comments, massively appreciated. How long time wise would it take if we caught first lift out of Warth. Just thinking it would be nice to stay that side but only if it doesn't take more than say 30 min to get to Lech

@rrd3718, First 8.45am lift out of Warth and you are in Lech for 9.45am. We stay in Warth every season and love it, however it has got crazy expensive and next January we are staying in Lech to ski Warth, its cheaper in a Hotel Garni in Lech than staying in Warth....read into that what you will. Then we head around to St Anton for second week in the car.
As above you've got to keep an eye on the weather when in Lech, its very expensive and long journey to get back to Warth if you get stuck in Lech. You can actually ski it back if you are off piste savvy, but its quite a tough route, and not one to try in bad weather.
Warth is fantastic by the way, highly recommended, we love it, but it does seem to be jacking its prices up somewhat (as expected) last 2-3 seasons. We just thought we'd stay in Lech which is kind of ironic.

We always feel that to get from Warth to the Saloberkopf requires a lot (too much) of traversing up and down the mountain. You almost get the impression the lifts are not very well planned there. (But probably no other solution possible)
The village of Warth is really tiny, with not much going on.
Main drawback in early winter is the lack of sun in Warth, being shielded by Wartherhorn and Karhorn.

@Langerzug, Yes its a bit of a trek and super-cold older style lifts in the shade but great off-piste between the lifts.

@Langerzug, Ha, i'll be out and high up before the Bogner set get out of bed so am cool with that, too cold for them in January anyway so resort should be quiet! Great town and ski area but I'm not that fussed with the glitterati that stay there, hopefully i'll not be seeing much of them

@Markymark29, Lech is no St.Moritz or Courchevel, it is still Arlberg and thus all about serious skiing. And quiet....our landlady always says that in Lech there is no low-season....99% booked from christmas to easter.
Where are you staying?

@Markymark29,
Never been inside, but know it well. Indeed it looks nice, and it has a beautiful terrace.
It sits at the end of the Madloch-Lech route, so it is 'ski-in' when coming from Zürs.
But also Schlegelkopf and Rüfikopf lifts are very walkable. Supermarket Filomena around the corner.
