seemed to have hit the wall this one, travelling through Italy in March and having 3 days in Monty, to save sitting round waiting for the bus from Oulx station, was thinking would get a taxi to Montgenevre and back again on day of return to Turin on train. The journey is 20km about 12 miles so I was thinking £20-30 each way would cover it, but all I seem to get offered is ridiculous quotes of close on 100 euro each trip, anyone got any suggestions ?

@cockerhoop, what dates are you travelling on? there's a new transfer bus service from Oulx to Briancon for next winter, but it might not operate on weekdays. There's usually a public bus service that meets the train too. I'll try and fish out more details later.

Spent much time in Oulx and Salbertrand just down the road.
Not only are taxis really expensive, they can even be hard to find at times.

@cockerhoop, you'll probably be best checking a little closer to the start of the season, it looks like timetables aren't up yet for the bus services, but they do usually get there for the main train services.

Leave your main luggage in Oulx (if possible) and get the ski lifts over with a small bag?

Oulx doesn't have ski lifts. They are in Sauze D'Oulx, which isn't the same. Its a long ski from there to Montgenevre too.

we used the bus from the station no problem, slight delay going as Milan train late arriving so bus waited, excellent on way back
