Poster: A snowHead
|
I was looking to book a holiday for Winter 17/18 but no operator appears to be offering this resort (or Fiss or Ladis). A quick search on the usual room booking sites comes up with about £2000 for a week for a double and I can't find any cheap flights from up North . Add in airport transfers and it becomes too expensive. If tour operators can offer Lech and Zermatt at not totally outrageous prices, why do you reckon that they don't offer Serfaus?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

1.you are too early. Few hotels have updated their booking for 17/18; few travelcompanies neither
2.Serfaus is not a big name beyond Austria/Germany/Holland

Try sending the tourist office an email with your requirements. We did this last year and had a good number of hotels replied very quickly.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I don't think any of the big British tour operators do SFL, I think the Dutch and German operators have the lion's share of available bed spaces. I've used Ski Bespoke to arrange a holiday in Serfaus and they were very good.

I am planning to go to Serfaus the first week of April next year. I tend to do it myself rather than through a tour operator. I haven't looked for accommodation yet but intend to look via www.tiscover.com and the Tourist Information Office and the website.
I'm not expecting any difficulties

I found a b & B in Fiss for about 55 euros a night this season via booking.com

Been to Fiss a couple of times. Always book the hotel directly, as its not on the TO radar. I've flown to Innsbruck, and also to memmingen, although Friedrichshafen would also work. I usually use sixt for rental to do the transfer. Although taxis from Innsbruck aren't too bad.
I find that if I start to get the sweats over the cost, I can overcome/justify by employing a 'cost per day model. Basically by booking direct, arranging your own flights and transfers, you can gain an extra 1-2 days on the slopes. Ideally early flights out, on off peak days (non weekend), late flight back. It is possible to ski half day on arrival, and all day on return. Anyway a really good area, for all levels, worth returning to. And the ski locker thing works really well (I was skeptical to start with).
