It won't be a fridge. It's a Skiplex rolling carpet unfortunately.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Good to hear about the rink though, I love watching ice hockey (even the lowly levels in the UK) but nearest teams are either Basingstoke or Cardiff. The former is 3 hours away and the latter I can't bring myself to support because they're Welsh.

Wonder if the proposed fridge in Swindon will ever come off?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@SnoodlesMcFlude, have you ever watched the Swindon ice hockey team? I would have thought that Swindon is closer to Devon and easier to get to than Basingstoke.
I haven't, I was wondering if they are any good, and worth taking the kids to see.
The chance of a snowdome is Swindon is pretty small, I'd have thought - there doesn't seem to be much money even for restoring the Oasis leisure pool.

@tomj, never been but there's not much difference between the two. Only been the Basingstoke once but it's a bit better for me as I can visit a friend in Guildford (have also been to see Guildford Flames, just depends on how the fixtures fall)

Definately. We saw the Swindon Wildcats a couple of weeks ago funnily enough and had a brilliant evening. Even our usually bored 16 year old daughter we had dragged along had a great time - she didn't look at her phone once for the whole game! Our 12 yo son loved all the "handbags".

This one at Weston-Super-Mare looked good
http://www.leisuredome.co.uk/Home.aspx
but unfortunately the website doesn't appear to have been updated since 2011 and the company involved Leisuredome (UK) Ltd has had an application to strike it off the Companies register by the directors of the company recorded at companies house yesterday (10/4/17).
Such a shame.

I think somewhere around Bristol (Swindon, Weston Super Mud etc) would have quite a good catchement area, all of the south West would be pretty much a captive audience, then south wales and across towards London too. I've driven up from Somerset to Tamworth a number of times just to slide for a day......

Several from Snowtrax do Bournemouth to Hemel regularly. That must be a similar distance.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I've been to Hemel from Exeter a couple of times, which feels like a fair drag.

I read the original developers were sacked by the local Council due to every increasing delays. I believe the ambition is still there just need someone new to back and build it.

You know it makes sense.

I've given up hope for the Bristol area. We don't even have a decent sized concert venue. They're concentrating on the superbus at the moment it seems.

Ah right. That's a shame. Traffic-wise Cribbs is a nightmare, so I would have thought Swindon would've been better for this enterprise, but I suppose you have to go where the land availability is.

Many in Swindon will recognise the description of what is being promised with a ski centre, IMAX cinema, bowling alley, hotel, bars and restaurants all still on the agenda.
Operators are said to be lined up ready to deliver on each of the aspects of the scheme, |
I wonder who?
Quote: |
We also now know that the ski centre will rival those in Milton Keynes and Castleford with two slopes and real snow cannons. |
Oh, right, them then.
