Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I am looking to go to France with a non skier and would welcome some recommendations. Somewhere that the non skier can get a bus or train to go on day trips. Does Les Arc have some sort of train that takes you into Bourg st Maurice?

If you stay in Arc 1600, there is a lift (Funicular) that connects it with BSM...so could be perfect.

@lynne123, as @Old Fartbag says, the funicular goes straight into Bourg from 1600. 7 minutes, 3 times an hour, 4 or more during rush hours. A short walk (10 mins?) to main town centre, inc. the connections via train and bus routes to other towns.

There are free buses that also run from the other arcs villages to 1600 that timetable to catch the funi.

You can also get pedestrian passes should you wish to meet the non-skier up the mountain for lunch; for example at the top of the Transarc.
Other non skiing activities up in the villages include snow shoeing, swimming, husky dogs, the wellness spa in 1950, as well as the traditional shopping.

Both 2000 and 1950 also lay on plenty of day and evening street entertainments (I don't know about 1600 and 1800 but presume they too have events). Lots to do for the non-skier.

@lynne123, Serre Chevalier has a ski bus service along the valley every 20 minutes or so that goes to the main town of Briancon. Briancon is not the prettiest of places to stay in, the other villages have better skiing access . There's a thermal spa in Monetier and the walled town in Briancon. Lift access for non-skiers at all point to meet up for lunch (also easy to ski down to the villages to do this too).
