Maybe they didn't all want to be in St Moritz that early, it will have been easier to train elsewhere this week.
I don't think the team members all need to be top 30. Our second racer in the men's SL is fairly close in ranking to one of the Slovak racers who came second in the team event.

And what is it with the bits off fluff many of the men have round their chins this year ? Never seen so many scruffy looking racers. Is this the latest fashion - or have they found it beneficial in wind tunnel tests ?

@rjs, i was referring to being in the top 30 as having a small chance to do well rather than qualifying. It has to be paid for and i dont see where that investment would come from for low ranking uk skiers

@rungsp, yes, all credit to her, she did very well. She's still ranked 47 though. Top 30 next season a good possibility!

@hawkwind, yep I'm a big fan of Shiffrin too, it must be demoralising for everyone else that she seems to be so much better.
Good first run for Ryding but he's got some very quick skiers not far behind him. Can see Kristofferson and Khoroshilov making up some time in the second run.

he needs to go for it 100% , said as much in the interview there.

Shame for Dave, just not quite sharp enough on the second run. Hirscher nearly threw it all away, went quite aggressive and that bit that pitched him over the tips nearly had him out.
