Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski boots for wonky feet?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have always has less flexibility in the big toe of my left foot than my right. These days, it won't bend back far at all, which makes it a little difficult to get the boot on in the morning (and off again at night).

Can anyone recommend any brands / models of boots which are easy(er) to get into, please?

@robhogg, It depends what you are after in terms of performance, but there are two brands that are very easy to get on and off, as they use a snowboard type inner and separate shell.

Get a 'walk to ride' boot so you can unlock the cuff & pivot it rearwards to open up the entry angle prior to putting your foot in.

Yup go look on FLEABAY for a pr of Salomon 92 [ equipes maybe ] rear entry boots.

I am still skiing on a pair.

Thanks.

I had though that the rear-entry boots sounded like they might suit me. Only one pair of 92s on Ebay at the mo' (and they'd probably be a bit large), but there are some SX65s and HTC 73s, which also look rear-entry (any idea whether they're any good?). The former are women's boots (though I have known a pair of women's walking boots to fit me better than the equivalent men's pair, before now). Might be worth the risk, as they're both priced at about what a week's boot hire would cost.

I hadn't been thinking of of the unlockable cuffs as being an aid to get into the boots, but makes sense. And those 2-piece boots look very interesting (though unfortunately they might be a little expensive to get before my trip at the end of the month).

The main issue with women's boots is they tend to be shorter than equivalent size in men's. Reason is that women's calf muscle is a different shape to men's.
