Poster: A snowHead

Last Sunday flew to Avoriaz via Geneva with Total ski (all good)
Monday morning at 10am, 1 hour into skiing at Chatel a couple of older French men decided to leave a bar and ski uphill across the piste to a lift. I missed the first one and the skier in front of me who swerved violently but the second got me head on with a ski and stick between my legs and took me out. Tendon in Ankle Snapped, first collision and injury in just short of 40 years skiing (and was only doing about 10 mph at the time)! 8-( and of course who skied straight off
Anyway, would just like to recommend Snowcard (aegis), who were great. Immediately gave me a list of options, called the medical centre, verified bills were covered, called back every 2 hours to ensure I was ok, arrange assistance for the flight home etc etc etc
Way really surprised at how helpful and proactive they were, definitely will use them again (have for many years but never used them!)
On assistance through Geneva was talking to another Woman who had the new SCGB insurance and she was not happy, apparently when push came to shove they were wheedling out of everything and needed constant chasing, avoid!
Surprised at how ankle could rotate enough in a Solutions for feet fitted boot to do the damage (mind you 4th season in that boot, maybe its time for a revisit)

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

We had need of them a few years back and they were brilliant, unfortunately they don't cover pre existing health conditions so they will no longer give us a quote. Shame that.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Apparently Achilles' tendons sometimes deteriorate and then eventually snap. I also did mine skiing, but just with a firm up movement off piste - no collision - but was told that it would otherwise have gone in next few months whilst running upstairs or dancing!
SCGB insurance was brilliant- getting me home on 3 seats to a different airport than I flew from and then a taxi 40 miles home.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Anterior tendon in my case, not achillies. I cycle a lot so my ankles are very active all the time, have good mobility
SCGB insurance has all been changed, membership and insurance aint cheap and looks like its gone downhill

That's a worry about SCGB used them this year.
Next year will have a look at Snowcard. Think my pension is with Aegis might get a discount
Always good to hear feedback from somebody who has claimed on their insurance.
