When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Advice on Snowboard boots: Better to buy top end 2013, or mid range 2017?

Hello,

I've just ordered a pair of Vans Infuse 2013 boots. These are looking like top rated boots, loved by the community. The date is kind of putting me off though due to possible advancements in tech.

Would I be better off getting the lower quality Vans V66 2017 boots for the same price?

It's age vs quality. What do you think? The thing is, I'm not a pro or even barely intermediate. I've done 3.5 weeks in the last 3 years.

nothing wrong with them if they are a good fit. there's been very little in the way of advancements over the last 5 years.

only thing is if they were top of the line there likely to be quite stiff so may not be the best for learning in.

Imho, the quality of the design of Vans has gone down hill since the year they took off. They subcontract the design of their snowboard boots to another company now and just slap on a badge.
