Was three bowls of steaming hot goulash soup, big bowl of grated raclette cheese to sprinkle in, along with a huge bowl of mustard croutons - then three large creme brûlée which were of such high quality I would have expected them in a recognised restaurant in Paris or London - this was in the Vache Noire restaurant at Petit Mt Bonvin, above Crans Montana while the snow tipped down outside - price? Total for the three of us - 39 Swiss francs. Excellent.

Late lunch back at the apartment after snowshoeing up to the Vallon d'Arbi from la Tzoumaz: Swiss Soup de Chalet (only 1 bowl each!) with slices of Pain de Seigle and covered in grated Gruyere Salé, and a glass of Petite Arvine.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Lunch was a lovely Italian salad but the corretto afterwards was 99% grappa, just coloured by a bit of coffee. Made it all worth while

Nah, it's one of life's delights. I don't trust people who don't like food. Something wrong with them.

Ahh! I have friends who moan if we don't eat tray food so they can be in and out quickly. I should make them ex-friends I think!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Lunch is a refuelling stop, eat well, rest and take time to digest and you will go back out as if it was first thing in the morning!

You know it makes sense.

@valais2, I'd have needed an afternoon sleep after all that!... a bowl of gulashsuppe and breadroll with a carton of mango or strawberry milk stuff does me fine, 12€, 1/2 hour rest and refill my water bottle in the WC job done!

Home made porcini mushroom ravioli at a beautiful rifugio hidden in the woods called baita motin. Absolutely fantastic.

I wouldn't want to ski everyday of the holiday, where lunch rather than skiing is the object of the day.
Equally I wouldn't want to ski everyday where lunch is regarded as an inconvenience and no regard given to the enjoyment of the food
There is a happy medium somewhere.

I only ever want to eat nice food. Sometimes extra special places are fab, but not everyday no. Eating in self service places happens when required for one reason or another.
Everything in moderation I guess.
