Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@louiscrow, certainly looks great price, taken at face value, depends a bit on:
- how many people
- accommodation arrangements (no of beds/rooms/ distance to lifts/ proximity of bars/restaurants)
- snow history
- transport
- extent of skiing
- coverage of lift pass

They do have some good deals yes, used them last year, and intending to use them again. Used them for a late season trip to Val Thorens, and got an apartment and lift pass for little more than I could get a lift pass (Full 3 valley) for myself. 3 of us sharing.

Yes, the apartment was small, but that was to be expected, but the location was good, and for what I paid, was perfectly happy.

The only note of caution that I would add is that you may have to go to a separate 'imobiler' or agent to get the keys, rather than from reception of the accommodation itself, and they may not take card for the deposit, we had to leave the 300 euro deposit in cash. Not a problem, just meant had to get some more out to last the week and then had a load left over at the end of the week when I got it returned. Other than that, it was fine, and gave the flexibility our own travel arangements, though they do also do packages with flights (mainly easyjet from the looks of it) and transfers from airport to resort).

@louiscrow, we're staying in the same Residence - also a Sunweb deal. Will try to remember to report back as we're going earlier in the season than you are.

Thank you, stayed there last year. Great location, right on the slopes and right near the ski lift. Any question @denfinella just ask?

@louiscrow, thanks. Nothing really pressing - we've been to La Plagne before, but it was over a decade ago so I can't remember that much of it. A few things I'm curious about:

- can you ski out and down to Plagne Bellecote from the apartments, or does that involve going uphill to get around the top side of the gondola station (hope that makes sense)?
- are there ski lockers (and if you went with Sunweb last year, are they included? Apparently you have to pay for bed linen or bring your own...)
- apparently we'll receive an info pack 7 days before departure. Presumably that'll include a voucher for ski hire, accommodation and lift passes (or a voucher to collect them??).

As a few others have said, it's the lift pass which makes it great value. When you take the value of that off, you're really paying very little for the accommodation itself. (We've sorted our own flights / transfers.)

Yes you can ski straight from the hotel to Bellecote. Ski lockers are included, ground floor of hotel. Very easy at lunch to change into something comfy (not ski boots) then change back. We did take our own bedding (we always do) although chalets very warm. Vouchers arrive, ski hire shop very close, so is the place you pick up the lift passes. You have to pay for parking, which is underneath the hotel.

Thanks v much, that all sounds excellent. We're booked with a transfer company so don't need to worry about parking. Now just need to count down the days!

We're currently in Flaine having booked through sunweb, part of the deal was free ski equipment hire including kids helmets- bit disappointed/irritated that we still had to pay for them upon collecting our gear - apart from that they have some good deals.

What was the Cassiopee like? I am considering a short pre Christmas break there with the family.

Thanks

Hi Nicky,

Do not think you can beat it for value through sunweb, great location, everything close by. Remember it is a 3 Star.

Thanks it does look very tempting. Were you staying in the two room(1 bedroom) apartment? Did this involve two of you on a sofa bed?

First year, 1 Room ok for young children. Second year 2 Bedroom I think it is worth the little extra.

Nicky, we stayed in a 2 bed Cassiopée apartment last year. It was a typical small apartment - no better or worse than several similar we've stayed in elsewhere in France. One difference I do remember is that we had bunk beds rather than a sofa double - we actually found the bunks more comfortable, but check in advance as it'll affect what sheets you need to bring! Also, free WiFi in reception.

The ski lockers were all flooded with stagnant water, so we took boots up to the room with us.

Overall it was excellent value for money and you can't beat the location.

Thanks! If it is bunk beds this definitely the preferred for us. Though Sunweb didn't mention the need to bring bedding!

It's possibly changed then but check the wording carefully. Last year it cost extra to hire linen on arrival. As for bunk beds - not sure if all the 2 person rooms are like that.

We used sunweb ski last year to Avoriaz which was excellent, I must say this year looking at them they seem a little limited on flights. Not sure if it is because the week we want to go is popular but they don't let you change times as much as last year.
