Poster: A snowHead

Are there any ways to get discounts when buying lift passes? You can normally get some quite good deals on equipment hire by booking online in advance but I'm not aware of those sorts of deals for lift passes?
We're off to Avoriaz (PDS) in a couple of weeks. Best I can find is skiholidayextras who seem to be offering a 5% discount on the price of an area lift pass if booked online.
Worth doing or would I be better just waiting till I get there?

I don't believe Avoriaz nor PdS do advance discounts.
Note you have to collect them at the main ticket office by buying from skietcextras. Possibly more convenient to buy direct and have posted out to you? Also note multi purchase discounts on Avoriaz site.

Thanks for the multi purchase tip, 15 Euros saving better than nothing I guess. Shame they don't put 2 for 1 lift pass tokens on cereal boxes like the theme parks do..

They do actually, though you have to buy in something like Sept/Oct to get them and buy them online. From memory it's about 15% off.
There are also random special offers and flash sales - http://www.ski-morzine.com/offres-speciales.html

@under a new name, indeed not but it balances your thought that discounts are not offered at all

Euro resorts don't really need to compete on lift passes with discounts and gimmicks they know most people will have committed to the resort when they booked accommodation so to a certain extent can name their own price (subject to the fact that people who feel ripped off won't want to come back). Quite a lot do offer discounts for Saturday day passes when discretionary local visitors can make a difference or for early or late season weeks where a cheaper pass might encourage a visit that would otherwise not happen. Best thing is to subscribe to the likes of BuyClub (Swiss groupon) & any French equivalents (maybe Lyon) and see if anything pops up if you're ready to commit over the summer.

True, but it's been available for at least the last 3 seasons.
