Anyone used these www.masterclass-ski.co.uk ?
They're a fair bit more expensive than ESF and ESI - just wondering if it may be worth paying more, for a couple of hours private boarding tuition for intermediate level ? Personally never had any problems with ESF ?

I've not used them myself but there have been good reports of them. Seem to remember there were problems reported actually making contact with them. Try the search facility, should turn up something useful.

easiski, well according to their web site there's a guy called Oli that does boarding lessons, haven't approached them yet so don't know if he's still there. Why do you ask, do you know someting we don't ?!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

masmith, No - unless you want to pm me. I just wasn't awre that they did boarding - I thought they just mainly did intermediate - expert small groups for Stuart's chat!

masmith, Oli does do boarding. It's probably fair to say that Masterclass is much more of a ski school than a snowboarding school but I don't think there is anywhere in ADH which could claim to be a dedicated boarding school

You've heard his three jokes then.
I skied with Stuart a bit a few years ago, and improved lots as a result. The company I worked for at the time had a significant number of returning clients who came back specifically to ski with Masterclass - I'd certainly recommend them.

Lizzard, I've known Stuart for years - he was my examiner when I passed my Grade 1 too, and we did our last BASI and ESI revalidations together!! I'm afraid I've recommended them in the past with less than wonderful results, so no longer do so. People sent were nervous 2nd weekers and kids.

I had lessons with Stuart a few years ago & my Kids with Oli, friendly setup with good testing instruction.

I was a not very good 3rd weeker & 3 days with Masterclass improved my skiing no end. I'd recommend them highly.

A bit of a mixed bag then. Not enough resounding prasies for me to rush in and book though - thanks for all your responses.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

masmith, We did a three day improvement course with Oli a couple of years ago....he was great, improved Mr HH and my skiing no end, his explanations of why you do particular things on the slopes meant that many of the hints and tips I've got from other instructors finally made sense! I have absolutely no idea about his boarding skills though.

homphomp, thanks, but the way the weather is shaping up I think I'll be looking for a swimming lesson instead ....

masmith, Don[t panic...we were there in early April once, blazing sunshine but there was still plenty of snow to keep us amused (although the run down to Oz was down to a 3 ft wide track!). Not to mention a marmotte or two wandering round the slopes....have fun.

homphomp, not panicking as such, would just be a bit disappointed for my good lady, it's her only the trip of the year, also would be gutted to get rain as is forecast as the kids wouldn't be too impressed. Can cope with cold, snow, fog, anything else but rain rain go away ....

Masterclass were excellent, I wouldn't hesitate to recomend them, we had private lessons with Stuart and I can't remember who our friends went with but they were equally impressed. We had great fun learning how to mogul, Stuart pushed us but in such a positive way that you really wanted to give it a try.

Me and the daughter did a 2 hour snowboard taster with Oli last year and thought he was brilliant. In the space of 2 hours, he had the group (all first timers) riding the poma and doing linked turns on the nusery slope.

Back from ADH now, Oli wasn't available for a boarding lesson but I did get a lesson from Sebastien at the ESF which was great fun and I learnt a great deal in one and a half hours.
A friend of mine joined Masterclass for intermediate lessons with Stuart. He was very impressed with the quality of teaching and the relaxed atmosphere within the group.
