Poster: A snowHead

@dredgey, well in spite of all the nay-sayers offering advice, I hope you have a great trip. I think it's a nice adventure to go there in any car and great fun for a family.
I've always liked Les Esserts since first staying there as well, and with the new snowfall it should be a really good week. The people working there have always been friendly and helpful to us, from pass office, ESF, nursery staff, apartment administration, lifties, and of course the pisteurs who work so hard to get things in great shape for us to enjoy our skiing.
Have a great week, and try the tartiflette in L'Beu if you get a chance, it's one of the best.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

@dredgey, my advice would be to read carefully the posts above by @japes1275 and @zikomo. Especially - do NOT engage the diff lock except on slippery ground and remember that 4-wheel drive doesn't help much when braking (unless, perhaps, you employ engine braking and double declutch).

@ski3, thank you for the positive post! I'll certainly look out for that tartiflette!
So turns i really didn't even need to think about the diff or anything; tarmac all the way.
As for going in a Defender, hmmm it wasn't that bad. It wasn't as comfy as a normal car but generally fine. We didn't break down (although there's always the return journey), and we did 2 and a 1/4 tanks of diesel and stuck around 80mph.
My issue really was the m25, one accident and we missed our ferry which put us back and meant I drove through the night with no sleep. Kids and wives in the back slept ok though.
Morillon 1100 les esserts so far is great!
