Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Stubai/ Neustift

Hi Guys and Girls,

Just after some advice, we are considering Neustift for a Ski Holiday in February, We have only been skiing once before, a week in Niederau.

Really enjoyed Niederau for a first time ski holiday, but did find it very quiet in terms of Apres.

Am expecting Neustift to be quiet too, But wondered if anyone can tell us about the bars by the Gondola at the Glacier, Any better Apres to be had here? or recommendations, we aren't huge party animals anymore (sob!) just somewhere with a bit of atmosphere for a couple of drinks after a days skiing.

Also, ski school wise, would you recommend lessons on the glacier or at Schlick 2000 at Fulpmes? Im wondering if it may be warmer and quieter at Schlick?

Any other tips greatly received - Thanks in Advance.

The Umbrella Bar near the car park is exceptional-I've never failed to have a good time there. I can't remember what it's actually called, but you won't struggle to figure out where it is. Might be Alpensporthotel Mutterberg.

I'm not sure how you'd get back to wherever you're staying from there, but I think the bus service is workable.

I would probably go for lessons on Schlick 2000. As you rightly say, it won't be as cold there and there are some nice tree lined runs. The only caveat here is to check the snow conditions first but I would have thought even the lower pistes will be fine in February.

You can then aim to head up the glacier later in the week as your skiing improves.

Can't help with the Apres question as we had a car when we went there but I don't know many Austrian ski areas with zero Apres bars. Have a great trip.
