It's a lovely resort. Usually looks a lot better than in the photo, there was barely any snowfall that year.

@jellylegs, close.
This is not actually in a resort but is the end of an offpiste run. Someone will have to name the mountain you can see to get this right. I am sure a number of people on this forum have ridden this descent.
Bonus points for the nearest ski lift.

Looks like it could be the North Face of the Bellecote!

From the backdrop of mountains it looks like the area around Champagny en Vanoise, perhaps a little further up the valley.

Surely it can't be the north face of Bellecote? The backdrop is flatter on that side.

@jellylegs, it’s the bottom of the valley after dropping off the north face and following the river/stream. It was quite sketchy at the bottom as late in the season. North face is very steep at the top. Look it up on YouTube. This time we did the Petit Face as I was on a snowboard and I didn’t fancy the steeper couloirs on a single edge given the conditions. I would like to go back with my skis.

I seem to recognise the name Adam Ruck, wasn't he the author of the Good Skiing Guide in the late 1980's. I think he wrote it with Chris Gill?? It was a brilliant guide and I loved the way they depicted the runs using the top down views and the 'three arrow' grading system. It was so much easier to gain a feel of the skiing and the layout of the resort.

@jellylegs, yes and he writes nicely. I too miss those editions. I used to have one on my desk and it would help me through the summer months.
