Specifically, it's the Glacier chair at the top of the Funitel Peclet. For some reason we agreed to @offpisteskiing's suggestion that it might offer some nice skiing. What we hadn't accounted for was the effect of bootpacking up to ~3000m on us lowlanders. The skiing was nice though!

lol, that was very much a guess...the scenery was what gave it away as probably not Europe. And you'd ruled out the US.
I did have a scroll through a few pics of resorts in Japan before taking a stab at it.
