Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi,
Skiing for 4 days in Chamonix staying at an airbnb apt in the center (rue courtmayer) which has Skiloc rental right downstairs. Any experience renting from them? Any other recommended places for rental? We dont have a car so convenience in pick up an drop off is key.
Thanks

If you want better kit, Concept Pro behind the Aiguille du Midi lift have fine stuff. Tell them David Murdoch sent you...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'm sure there will be other people here with preferences but I have always really liked Ravenels. It's right in the Place du Mont Blanc which is bang in the centre of the town and easily walkable from all over Cham.
I mainly like using it because the kit is refreshed frequently so what you hire is always in good nick. I have seen people hire boots from Ravenels which are blatantly brand new and the shop is happy to give you new stuff rather than trying to hold the new stuff back and give you the older kit.

@pred02, We've used Alpinresorts on Rue Joseph Vallot. About £65 for 4 days Platinum grade skis.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Not being rude, @dp, @halfhand, but neither of your suggestions are very handily placed... Ravanel is a nice shop indeed, but not so very close. Alpinresorts is a brand and not actually a shop (I think it's a Twinner)...

@halfhand, no, but the kit is particularly good and they are good chums

Close? No. But it's no more than 10 minutes walk and plenty of nice places to eat on the way to make the journey worth it.
Also, Avenue de Courmeyeur is one place where all the buses stop, and Place du Mont Blanc is the other, so it's a short bus trip which your lift pass pays for anyway.

@pred02,
Sports Alpins (Footworks) opposite the Midi Lift, and even Snell's have always been pretty good when I have had visitors or a little crisis.
