Does anyone know of a Friday transfer service from Tignes to Geneva?
I have been offered an uber-cheap week in Tignes but it finishes on the first day of the MYASHBASH, so I really need to get out of there on the Friday in order to get over to Milan in the morning. Looking at flights the easiest thing even looks to be to fly all the way back to Manchester, get a hotel airport overnight then head back out on my original flight in the morning.
Any ideas would be great

Have you looked at Altibus?
You can do Geneva to Milan by train, too.

I had just found Altibus - but thanks, that seems to be one little piggy sorted
Train to Milan. Genius. You know what... definitely going to have a look at that. That would save a lot of hassle if it's easy enough to do with a double ski bag

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

In fact, there's actually train and bus from Geneva all the way to Livigno. And it gets in by Midday.
I guess it depends how brave I'm feeling!!!

Try Snow drone transfers Val D'isere or Mountain sun, Tignes for transfers.
The train must be ok as someone in the news recently used it. Obviously no passport controls

@dp, I am not sure why you want to go to Geneva (and cerainly not Manchester) if you are going to Milan. The TGV from Paris to Milan stops at Chambery and it take only a couple hours from there, but I suspect the complete journey from Bourg to Milan may be about 7.
Anybody know how to make the sncf web site work? It keeps transfering me to a UK site that quotes the price in pounds. I want to know what the real price is not the tourist price.
@stewart woodward, a couple years ago my wife caught the train from Chambery to Milan, and somewhere near the border they came down the train checking documents and the man sitting next to her was escorted away and never seen again. Even though both countries are in Shengen you are still required to have ID (forged) with you at all times.

Basically the timings don't add up.
Transfer for MYASHBASH is based on flights getting into MXP at circa half 10. The airport is out of town and about an hour by public transport from Milan City Centre to Milan MXP airport. So I'd need to be in Milan for 9.30
Earlest TGV service doesn't leave Chamberry until about that time, gets into Milan about 10 to 2. So that's bug all use.
Anyway so hypothetically if I still decided to get the TGV to Milan, I could get a train to Tirano, then a bus to Livigno. But the last train to Tirano, which still gets you a bus, leaves Milan at 1220 - but I won't be there until 1350
So then I would be getting a taxi from Tirano to Livigno which would cost more than the flight back to Manchester
Geneva is not as stupid as it sounds because Livigno is closer to Switzerland than to Milan, by quite a lot. From Geneva, one can get the train all the way to Zernez, which is only a half hour bus ride from Livigno. And the perk of me traveling direct to Livigno, rather than to Milan, is that if I mess it up and get there 2 hours late, I don't either (a) hold up the entire tour party, or (b) end up in Milan with no way to Livigno.
So all things considered, getting the TGV to Milan, despite your best intentions, doesn't look like a good idea does it?

@dp, I do not speak French either, but it is easy to work out. Still not sure why you want to go to Geneva when Chambery is easier and more direct.
Google goggles will do any translation and if you are really stuck ask someone.

The OP would probably prefer not to get shot on arrival in Milan though.

Train to Milan on the Friday and overnight there? Surely better than flying via Manchester. Loco2 https://loco2.com is a good way to check the timings

@DJL, but then I go back to needing a Friday transfer to Chamberry, which Altibus do not offer. Best I can find is a private transfer at £330. Plus the cost of the hotel in Milan.
So the best option, if a little dog legged, still looks like an early morning transfer from Tignes to Geneva (which only takes about an hour longer than Chamberry) then a train from Geneva to Zernez, and a bus from Zernev to Livigno. This can all be done on the Saturday without a problem.

Or just get the bus down to Bourg St Maurice then train from there.

There will probably be shared private transfers from Tignes on Friday and Saturday. Check out the Tarentaise Transfers group on Facebook.
