Will be in St Anton for a week starting Jan 21. Obviously hoping for a change in the weather by then but if not we plan to visit a few other spots by car.
So far looking at Ischgl, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and Solden. The thought was that if we are limited in terrain options at St Anton, why not tour around to some other resorts to find some better snow or just get a feel for other resorts in the area.
If conditions are marginal, off piste may not be an option so we would be looking for good cruising runs or maybe some decent north facing "side piste" up high.
Any advice on parking, things to avoid, weather conditions vs. resort choice or even other resorts that would offer a days worth of fun would be appreciated.
Merry Christmas and Think Snow!

There may be plenty of skiing but it can get crowded, especially the home run in the afternoon. Ischgl is well worth a visit and less than an hours drive from Stanton. Large free car park just a short walk to the base station. Plenty of good pistes and some off if your lucky. Solden is also within an hour and a half drive though the parking there isn't so convenient, but with the Glaciers the skiing can be good.

Even with the current conditions it would be a daft idea to spend at least 2-3 hours per day transferring and parking.
It is also rather silly to have these ideas for your holiday that is still a month away....

@xtr, Ischgl would be a good call.
Much better piste skiing (and currently much better conditions) than St Anton and there are some big car parks to make it easy for day-trippers.
@BigSoy, The 'loop' at Lech is not currently possible due to the lack of snow and the lack of snow cannon(s)

Which isn't currently skiable with the snow conditions, in fact the conditions are better in St Anton than Lech, evident by the number of instructors from Lech/Zuers that can be seen on piste with guests at the Anton side.

We are driving our motorhome to Austria in February and staying on a campsite in Pettneu. We have never skied in St Anton, and understand that it has some fairly technical runs. As the children are still building up their confidence, we would like to do a few days in Lech/Zuers first. What I'd like to know is how easy/time consuming is it to get to these areas from St Anton?

@Johorbs, to get to Lech by car you go through Zurs. Oberlech area is probably in my view the nicest out of the way beginner skiing. There is also some small free lifts just to the south of the centre that could be used if you want a very gentle start without people speeding past. St Anton though also has some fine beginner skiing too. The top part of Galzig is quite easy skiing (some very wide slopes) and below Gampen is also ok (some narrow tracks). Someone may be able to give an accurate timing for the journey but I'd guess around 30 minutes to Zurs and another 10 minutes to Lech if conditions are fine, more if not.

Thanks for the reply. Definitely put any concerns I had to bed. Really looking forward to it all.

@Johorbs, Just one thing. If driving to Lech from Pettneu you will probably want to drive over the Alrberg pass, which can require snow chains, so have some chains with you. Not sure what parking possibilities there are for a motorhome in Lech.

You know it makes sense.

We are going to rely on ski buses to ferry us about. Motorhome is a bit of a beast to try and park anywhere. We do have snow chains just in case.

Parking at the entrance to Zurs is free apparently but not the case in Lech.

One consideration... unless the areas share the same lift pass, you will likely be buying daily passes, which will cost you!
All of the Arlberg is on the same pass, but I do not know if the other resorts mentioned by the OP are part of a single lift pass.

Schlosskopf car park at the end of Lech is free if you have a lift ticket. Zurs Trittkopf park is also free.
