Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Winter Olympics 2018

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Having never been to South Korea I thought it might be fun to go over for the Olympics, watch some of the events and ideally combine with a ski trip...but I can't see any travel packages anywhere, which given its only just over a year away (I think) seemed a bit odd.

Of course I may abort this plan if the costs get to crazy...I have no real idea what they are likely to be at the mo!

Is anyone else planning anything similar by chance and has any more info/web links?

Try getting in contact with a sport package specialist like Gullivers

And just make sure you don't mix up Pyeongchang with Pyeongyang...

I'd suggest watching the Olympics in Korea, then hopping across to Japan for the skiing.

I never fly Korean Airways - their cockpit managment has a very bad history.

The problem is that this former Air Force pilots do not want to loose face, and that the younger co-pilots always respect the older to much. There have been many incidents of that cockpit communication in different korean airlines.

And in the ultimate case the Russians shoot them down.

And it applies to all korean airlines - even though Korean Airways tries to work on it.

I did actually see an Air crash investigation episode which suggested the same...but as a mainstream airline I assume their crash stats are pretty good generally!

That aside, are people suggesting Japan because it's good, or because It's impossible to ski during the Olympics?

We're not hardcore skiers by any means, simple blues are fine for us, with that in mind (and the fact we'll be with a 3 year old) is it best to a) simply not bother b) do a 10 day trip, catch a few events and ski if we can or c) a week watching th games and a week in Japan skiing?

I've been to south Korea and it's fascinating but I wouldn't suggest it for a ski trip. They get very little natural snow and the mountains aren't large.

I travel to Seoul Korea a couple of times a year. I stay in the Sheraton Four Points near the main station. Good value and has a coin laundry. The Hethrow flight on BA gets in at 7AM. Don't get this. Try to get flight that lands about 4pm, AND expect 2 days + of jet lag (top tip, sleep with the curtains open to get into the time zone).

Never book breakfast at hotels. Cheaper without. Korea is mid range in price and similar to the UK.
