Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Not the sexiest topic out there but appropriate for this seasonal time of year...socks!
Just bought a pair of these through a catalogue.....

I was tempted because they look thin and so will fit comfortably in my boots (fitted), but does anyone know if they are any good?!

I am sceptical of "good" socks, although I own various "technical" pairs. I have yet to find a pair of socks that improved my skiing.

These look thin and a lot cheaper - http://www.decathlon.fr/chaussette-ski-homme-heatline-id_8343731.html

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Agreed that there is little - even incremental - improvement to technique etc, but wicking is always a key concern; chafing, rubbing and other painful anxieties! My boots are "Surefoot" fitted so thin is best. I have offloaded all my thick Falke socks as a result!!!

Personally, I've always found that pretty much any old pair of socks will work fine. Over the years I've worn thick, woolly socks, I've worn thin ski socks, I've worn the cheap Wedze socks mentioned above, and in desperation I've even worn a normal pair of black 'office style' socks once upon a time.

If you particularly want thin, good quality socks then these might well be worth a try. Not cheap, but amazing quality in thousands of designs. A lot of jockeys and those in the equestrian world who want good, thin socks that are comfortable in tight fitting boots wear them.
