Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi there,
Watching time pass by on youtube stubbled across ski biking looked pretty fun and just wondering if anyone out there knows how easy it would be to convert an old MTB or even BMX? Also where to source conversion kits from and the really question is it worth it ? Looking at the peg ski bike where you just stand on the bike pegs some are fixed or just bungeed off pedals from what I gather.
Thanks Sam

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Just rent one when you go somewhere that allows/promotes it. From what I gather from talking to people who have tried it is that it is pretty easy and therefore the fun/challenge doesn't last that long and secondly that good groomers are really required.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Samc12, I think you would have to rent in resort, as I have seen "No Snowbikes" signs on lifts. Most of the of the ones I have seen were in Japan, and seemed to consist of falling off rather making progress. Probably something to try on night skiing/sledging event, rather than a normal ski piste.
If you are that desperate to ride on snow, go buy or rent a fat bike with 4-5" tyres.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Is a skibike a sort of bicycle thing with skis as seen in Help, or is it a bike with fat tyres (ie a bike for snow) the sort of thing they take down the flying K in Les Arcs

@johnE, It is a bike with skis in place of wheels sort of thing. They vary from very basic, to full suspension 'bikes'.
